In-Hyung Kim has called Paris home for decades and shown her work throughout the world. Her interest in hue, line and form as well as atmospheric imagery animated by figuration have led the artist through varied series of paintings. Her work at times veers towards abstraction and at others approaches a particular mediated realism. Kim’s recent paintings provide a mature amalgamation of her previous concerns and their suggestions of the romantic, and even the super-natural, draw the viewer in deep without ever hinting at the secret of the attraction.
Kim was educated at L'Academie Grande Chaumiere Charpentier, L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts, and L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and has exhibited her paintings and sculptures in Europe and Asia. In 1994, API brought the work of In-Hyung Kim to New York City for her first exhibition in the United States.
